According to Dave Hall <David.Hall@grc.nasa.gov>:

    The code in this example will not run if linked with a libTAO
    that was built using -DTAO_HAS_MINIMUM_CORBA.

As far as I know, we don't see this problem here.  I was just
going to check again, but the builds are broken.  Feel free
to reassign this to Bala if you'd like :-)

It's no longer broken.  I don't know if it ever was,
so I'm not referencing any ChangeLog entries.
